Light & Colour Lab software enable students to work unaided through chapters, performing interactive experiments, analogous to those performed in a lab, to develop their own knowledge and understanding of:

Reflection

  1. The law of reflection
  2. The position of an image in a flat mirror
  3. How to draw an image in a flat mirror - the quick method
  4. The properties of an image in a flat mirror

Refraction

  1. The laws of refraction
  2. What causes light to be refracted
  3. The speed of light in different materials
  4. Refraction at a boundary between two materials
  5. Refracted images
  6. Refraction and prisms

Colour

  1. Dispersion
  2. Colour Addition
  3. Colour Subtraction

In addition, each of the three main topic areas include two sections, Questions and Further Work, to test a pupil’s knowledge and to offer further challenges (eg. The periscope in the Reflection topic, Snell’s law in the Refraction topic etc.)

By using Light & Colour Lab, a student progresses only on correct completion of tasks, guaranteeing a good understanding of each chapter and ultimately, of each of the 3 topics. The Start Page keeps track of the student’s progress.

Light & Colour Lab is ideal for use before or after lab experiments or in place of lab experiments! It is also invaluable as a revision tool and as a “catch-up” aid for those who have missed lessons.
